What’s in Jessicurl hair products?

Every ingredient in every Jessicurl product is there for the specific positive effect it will have on your hair.

  1. Aloe Vera – Moisturizes the hair without adding heaviness.
  2. Avocado Oil – Adds moisture, softness and shine.
  3. Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol –  Emulsifies and thickens the conditioners. Aids in static control and comb ability.
  4. C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate – Provides light conditioning with a silky-soft after feel.
  5. Cocoa Butter – An extremely moisturizing butter that softens the hair.
  6. Coconut Oil – Adds moisture, softness and shine.
  7. Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Polysorbate 60 – The combination of these two ingredients is what makes Confident Coils so nice and creamy. The Cetearyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol and is actually good for your hair. It helps to moisturize the hair.
  8. Cinnamal, Citral, Eugenol, Geraniol, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool – These ingredients are naturally occurring active ingredients found in the essential oils used in some of the products.
  9. Decyl Polyglucose and Cocamidopropyl Betaine – Two of the most gentle cleansers on the market, these keep the Hair Cleansing Cream and Gentle Lather Shampoo from stripping your hair but still get it clean.
  10. Dehydroxanthan Gum – This is part of what makes Confident Coils so superb at creating chunky, defined curls. It also re-activates really well with water, making it easier to perk curls back up mid-day if they suffer a setback. 🙂
  11. Ethanol – You will see “Alcohol” (in this case ethanol) listed as an ingredient  in Spiralicious Styling Gel. It is a necessary component in Polyquaternium 69 which is one of the ingredients used in that gel.  The proportion of ethanol is so low in this product that it does not have a negative effect.
  12. Flax Seeds – These provide a light hold that rinses out clean and will not build up. They’re what makes Rockin’ Ringlets and Gelebration Spray brown.
  13. Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride – Thickens formula, very conditioning. Helps to leave hair silky soft.
  14. Hydrolyzed Oat Flour – Helps to thicken the formula and adds moisture to the hair.
  15. Jojoba Oil – This oil is the closest of all oils to our skin’s own natural sebum. Adds softness and shine to hair.
  16. Lecithin – Moisturizing and nourishing.
  17. Magnesium Sulfate – This is plain old Epsom salt you’d soak your tired muscles in. The magnesium is a powerful curl enhancer, which is why we use it in our styling products.
  18. Panthenol – Pro-Vitamin B5. Adds moisture and sheen to the hair.
  19. Polyimide 1 – One of the holding ingredients in Confident Coils. This ingredient is particularly powerful at providing humidity protection to keep curls well defined.
  20. Polyquaternium 11 – Water-soluble and provides hold without making the hair tacky or sticky. It is one of the key ingredients of Spiralicious Styling Gel.
  21. Polyquaternium 69 – This ingredient is water-soluble, provides hold, increased shine, frizz reduction and very effective in high humidity. Also doesn’t flake like other styling agents. It is  one of the key ingredients of Spiralicious Styling Gel.
  22. Shea Butter – An extremely moisturizing butter that comes from the Karite tree in Africa.
  23. Vegetable Glycerin – This is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the air into the hair shaft, resulting in much softer hair. While it won’t build up on the hair, using too much at once can make your hair look greasy until you wash it again.
  24. VP/VA Copolymer – This provides some of the hold in Confident Coils.
  25. Water infused with Horsetail, Marshmallow, Basil, Burdock, Nettle, Coltsfoot, Parsley, Sage, Oregano, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Rosemary, Bay Leaf, and Thyme- – This is our special “Hair Tea” used in our conditioners. All of these herbs are good for hair, aiding in softness, shine and overall health of the hair.

Use of Preservatives is minimal but here they are:

  1. Benzoic Acid – A component of the preservative system used in some of the products.
  2. Dehydroacetic Acid – This is a component of the preservative system used in some of the products.
  3. Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate – Preservatives that keep the products from going bad. The usage rate is well below 1% of the entire weight of the formula, so there’s enough to preserve the products but not so much that it could irritate your skin.
  4. Phenoxyethanol – A preservative that is considered one of the least sensitizing and also does not release formaldehyde.
